EDWARD F. VOELKER, JR. has concentrated his practice in the areas of business and real estate law, with emphasis on the concerns of the small business owner. Mr. Voelker’s practice also includes negligence and intentional tort claims, as well as estate planning and administration. In addition to being the President of Voelker & Associates, P.C., Mr. Voelker is the President of Three Rivers Settlement Services, Inc. (a settlement and title agent), and the broker of record of Independence Realty Services, L.P. (a real estate brokerage).
He is admitted to all Pennsylvania State Courts, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Courts for the Western, Middle, and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania, and the United States Tax Court. Mr. Voelker received a joint Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, cum laude, and the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business. He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
KAREN HENNON McCONNELL began her legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable James Knoll Gardner, President Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Lehigh County. Thereafter, Ms. McConnell has concentrated her practice in the areas of business and real estate litigation.
Ms. McConnell’s practice also includes negligence and intentional tort claims. She is admitted to all Pennsylvania State Courts and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Ms. McConnell received her law degree from the Dickinson School of Law.
SHAWN J. HAAG concentrates his practice in the areas of business, health care, non-profit, real property, and construction law including landlord/tenant disputes, construction contract law, Stark and Anti-Kickback laws, as well as a variety of matters involving the administration of health care organizations and the State and Federal statutes and regulations related thereto. A former hospital administrator, Mr. Haag has served in leadership roles in several large health care organizations and led them in short and long term planning, development, and construction efforts.
Mr. Haag is admitted to all Pennsylvania State Courts, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of the Master’s Program in Health Care Administration (summa cum laude) from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, and received his Juris Doctor (cum laude) from Duquesne University School of Law where he was the recipient of the BNA/ABA Award of Excellence in the Study of Health Care Law. He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association where he participates in the Health Care Law Section, Pennsylvania Bar Association, American Health Care Lawyer’s Association, and is a Certified Health Care Executive with the American College of Health Care Executives, and serves as a Board Member and volunteer for local nonprofit organizations.
ADAM T. PETRUN is an associate attorney who joined Voelker & Associates in August, 2019. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Petrun worked at a well-established civil litigation firm in Pittsburgh. Mr. Petrun’s practice primarily includes litigation, with an emphasis on business law and real estate law matters. Mr. Petrun has counseled corporate shareholders, LLC members and partners in connection with various business disputes, has assisted landlords and tenants of commercial and residential properties, and is experienced in other general litigation matters. Mr. Petrun’s experience also includes appellate matters before the Superior and Commonwealth Courts of Pennsylvania. In addition, Mr. Petrun’s practice includes various transactional matters involving businesses and real estate, including zoning, land use and real estate taxation matters.
Mr. Petrun is admitted to all Pennsylvania State Courts and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Mr. Petrun is a summa cum laude graduate of Duquesne University, and received his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, in 2013 from the Duquesne University School of Law, where he was an assistant editor for the Duquesne Law Review and a teaching/research assistant in the Legal Research and Writing Program.
